ASUS presented its newest gaming smartphone, the ROG Phone 3, to the Brazilian public on Wednesday (28), at an event broadcast on the Internet. The device was announced globally at the end of July, approved by the National Telecommunications Agency (Anatel) in early October and officially begins to be sold in the country on Thursday (29).
The ROG Phone 3 has little change compared to its predecessor, the ROG Phone II, which was also launched here late last year. The device has some novelties, such as the refresh rate of the larger screen, three cameras in the main set and updated hardware, as well as maintaining the battery capacity of 6,000 mAh.
The design is pretty much the same as its predecessor, with a piece of LED glass that lights up to show the ROG (Republic Of Gamers) logo on the rear and a similar shape and appearance. The changes are so few that even the dimensions are practically the same, while the weight remains unchanged at 240 grams.
Even the screen size is repeated, maintaining the 6.59 inches of an AMOLED panel. However, the refresh rate now reaches 144 Hz and HDR10 + is supported, instead of 120 Hz and HDR10. The resolution follows Full HD and the protection is the same as the Gorilla Glass 6 on the ROG Phone II.
The cameras also change little, the main one jumping to a maximum resolution of 64 MP, while the ultra-wide one maintains the same 13 MP of the predecessor. And here comes the third lens, a 5 MP macro for photos that show all the details of very close objects. In front, selfies of up to 24 MP.
The hardware changes little, basically an upgrade from the previous model. Now, the ROG Phone 3 has the Snapdragon 865 Plus processor, with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage.
What makes the ROG Phone 3 a truly gamer-oriented smartphone are the additional features, such as Air Triggers, triggers that facilitate in games like Free Fire, PUBG Mobile me Call of Duty Mobile, among others. Also, the cell phone has a fan in the case to help keep it cool inside and run for long periods without losing performance.
Pricing and availability
The Rog Phone 3 is available in Brazilian stores as of Wednesday (28), from R $ 5,849 in cash. The device will not be manufactured in the country, at least not initially.
ASUS also announced a number of cell phone accessories, such as the ROG Cetra Core Wireless Headphone, ROG Strix Scope TKL Keyboard, and ROG Eagle Eye GX1000 Mouse, all compatible with the smartphone. The company has not yet announced prices for these products.
