The Rock in Rio organization announced on Tuesday (15) the schedule of the day dedicated to heavy metal for the 2021 edition of the festival in Rio. Iron Maiden, Dream Theater, Megadeth and Sepultura are the main attractions.
Metal Day will open the event, scheduled for September 24, 25, 26 and 30 and October 1, 2 and 3, in Rock City.
Sepultura will perform an unprecedented double with the Brazilian Symphony Orchestra, in the show entitled “Sepultura en Concert”.
Dream Theater will make its first performance at Rock in Rio.
Megadeth was scheduled on the 2019 schedule, but had to cancel after frontman Dave Mustaine was diagnosed with tongue cancer, which has now been cured.
“When we were offered the opportunity to return to Rock in Rio and play on opening night next year, it was clear that we all agreed immediately. Maiden fans know that this festival is very special to us because of our long history together. Rio’s vibrancy is unique and the passion of the crowd never fails to be electrifying. Last year’s Legacy tour was so much fun, you just have to wait and see what we have planned for next time. All I’ll say is that as long as you love us (and Eddie), we’ll keep seeing you in Brazil again! Iron Maiden frontman Bruce Dickinson says in a statement released by the festival.
The organization also announced that advance ticket sales, the Rock in Rio Card, which guarantees entry to the event even before all attractions are announced, will begin on March 9, 2021 via the Internet.
