Rio had another day of crowded beaches this Saturday (12), despite the City Council regulations continue to prohibit bathers from staying in the sand.

Since phase 5 of the easing of the measures against Covid-19, which began in August, sea bathing is allowed, but the sand can only remain:

  • Street vendors (from 7 am to 6 pm)
  • Who is practicing physical activities, wearing masks.

It is forbidden, in addition to the stay of bathers on the sand strip:

  • Sale of alcoholic beverages
  • Altinha
  • Rental of chairs and tents

The GloboNews report was in Leme, Copacabana, Ipanema and Leblon, in the South Zone of Rio, and found a similar scenario: arenas full of bathers with tents, chairs and sarongs.

To try to discourage the overcrowding of the beaches, the state government published this Friday (11) a decree that prohibits the parking of those who are not residents of the vicinity on the outskirts of the city. The municipality’s Public Order Secretariat carried out an operation with 20 trailers to avoid irregular parking.

According to Rio Alert, the temperature in the capital can reach 35 degrees this Saturday. This Friday, Mayor Marcelo Crivella authorized the return of cinemas and theaters with a capacity of 50% as of Monday. He also spoke of freeing the public in football stadiums, to empty the beaches.
