Astonishing and brutal like no other crime committed against children in the history of the country’s capital, the case of the child Rhuan Maycon da Silva Castro, beheaded alive and dismembered at age 9, had its last chapter written on Wednesday night (25 / 11), in the Samambaia Jury Court. The mother of the minor, Rosana Auri da Silva Cândido, 30, and her partner, Kacyla Priscyla Santiago Damasceno, 29, perpetrators of the barbarism, were sentenced to sentences that together exceed 130 years in prison. The macabre details of what happened on the night of May 31 of last year, inside the family home -in the QR 619 block, in Samambaia Norte-, were still kept secret until the end of the criminal process.
The Civil Police investigators who worked on the case and experts from the Legal Medical Institute (IML) have never found dismembered parts of the child’s body. Mainly one of the thighs. The suspicion is that meat chips were grilled and served as a steak during dinner for Kacyla’s daughter, an 8-year-old girl at the time.
The suspicion grew stronger when the girl, still in pajamas, was transferred to the facilities of the 26th Police Station (Samambaia), the unit in charge of investigating the crime, until the Guardianship Council and close relatives were called. Hours had passed since the girl was in the care of the PCDF, but she was very ill and refused any type of feeding.
The policemen asked what the girl had eaten and could have made her nauseous. In response, they heard that it had been toasted with tomato sauce. “There was no toast or ketchup in the house or in the refrigerator, much less in the garbage. We never found any packaging for these products, ”he told Metropolis an investigator who registered the residence.

Cooked intestines
The boundaries of cruelty were crossed after the two women stabbed Rhuan at least 12 times. The mother began to decapitate her son with a fish knife and hammer, who was lying down and still breathing.
Rosana tried to tear out the boy’s eyes, but failed. The IML report also noted that when Rhuan’s head was ripped off, the victim’s vital signs were still present. The rib cage was opened and the intestine was removed. “The mother said she even cooked the intestines,” said one of the policemen who heard the Metropolis.
The idea, according to the offender’s testimony, was to fry the skin, cut the child’s meat into cubes, roast them, and then dump the remains in the bathroom and into the sewer networks throughout the city. The bones would be crushed with the help of a hammer and they would have the same luck. The family home’s barbecue was used to cook Rhuan’s body parts. Experts found grate burn marks on pieces of the corpse that had been dismembered.
The horror described in the IML reports was difficult for even the most experienced investigators to absorb. The chief delegate of the 26 DP, Cícero Jairo Vasconcelos, said that Rhuan had a life of martyrdom.
“This is without a doubt one of the most barbarous and violent crimes ever to occur in the Federal District. The boy suffered horrible mutilations, even years before he died, when the two authors cut off his penis, ”the deputy recalled.
