Retirees will have a readjustment of 4.1% in 2021

More than 45 million workers earning minimum salaryincluding Retirees and pensioners of the INSS, will have an adjustment of 4.1% next year. According to information from the Secretariat of Economic Policy (SPE) of the Ministry of Economy, the minimum wage, which today is R $ 1,045, will be R $ 1,087.84 in 2021. The new value is R $ 20.84 above of the latest proposal presented by the government, published in August this year.

According to the Intersindical Department of Statistics and Socioeconomic Studies (Dieese), the revision of the minimum wage was due to the 2020 inflation estimate measured by the National Consumer Price Index (INPC). The estimate pointed to an increase from 2.35% to 4.1%. The readjustment will take effect from January 2021, and the first payment will begin in February.

Correction model

It is worth mentioning that the correct index is closed with data from December and will only be known in January of next year. The floor will be readjusted by the INPC of the previous year and the variation of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of two years before will no longer be applied, ceasing to follow the correction model in force since 2004. The current legislation (Law 13,152 / 2015) only It provided for the maintenance of these criteria until January 1, 2019, although the rule had already been confirmed in the laws of 2011 and 2015. The Bolsonaro government has not yet defined a new policy for the minimum wage.

The INSS ceiling must reach R $ 6,351

Starting in January 2021, INSS retirements and pensions are also expected to increase by 4.1%. Considering the new estimate of the INPC, retirees can already have an expectation in relation to the amount that will be their benefit. With the readjustment, the social security ceiling should go from the current R $ 6,101 to R $ 6,351.
