Senator Renan Calheiros (MDB-AL) criticized lawyer Deltan Dallagnol, former coordinator of the Lava Jato Working Group in Curitiba, on social media.

Calheiros, who is the author of one of the complaints against Deltan that will be tried in the CNMP (National Council of the Public Ministry), said that Deltan “was partial, persecuted, used the MP to engage in politics.”

The criticisms, which were extended to former judge Sergio Moro, continued: “The withdrawal of the funds is a futile attempt to lessen the shame.”

In 2019, Deltan used social media to say that the election of Calheiros as president of the Senate would represent a setback in the fight against corruption. The dispute ended up being won by the current president of the Senate, Davi Alcolumbre (Dem-AP).
