Registration for the new payment of urgent aid

The Proposed Amendment to the Emergency Constitution (PEC) that allows the return of the emergency help it has already been approved in two rounds in the Federal Senate. Now, the text goes to a vote in the Chamber of Deputies at the end of this week. According to President Jair Bolsonaro and the President of the Chamber, Arthur Lira, the expectation is that the payment of the aid will be divided into four sections, between the months of March and June.

However, the number of beneficiaries will be less this year. The Ministry of Citizenship intends to analyze data on the financial nature of citizens who are already registered for emergency assistance. According to the government, this measure is essential to point out those who are truly in need in the current crisis.

Will it be necessary to register?

A new registration will not be necessary. This year’s recipients are in last year’s recipient pool. The selection will be made through a collation of different data, which will indicate who are the people who meet the criteria of the new cycle of benefits.

Consequently, many citizens will be left out of paying the new fees. According to the Citizenship team, compared to the past, approximately 3 million people will not receive emergency aid this year.

This number can refer to beneficiaries who have secured a formal job, as well as those who were waiting for a social security benefit and this year it was covered. Such, they are automatically blocked from the new program.

Regarding the income required to qualify for the program, there is not yet a defined amount, however, it is believed that the rules should be the same as last year, namely:

That the candidate is unemployed or active on the condition that:

– Individual microentrepreneurs (MEI);

– Individual taxpayer of Social Security;

– Informal worker.

Either from a family whose monthly income per person does not exceed half the minimum wage (R $ 522.50), or whose total family income is up to 3 (three) minimum wages (R $ 3,135.00).

In addition, about 14 million beneficiaries of Bolsa Família will be included in the new emergency aid.

There will be no new registration

In the previous program, many Brazilians did not get the benefit, even those who met the required criteria. However, according to the government, unfortunately, the new extension will be aimed only at people who benefited from last year and who comply with the new rules.

Even with pressure from civil society to open new registrations, the measure used by the Union will not allow new registrations. Which can probably generate a lot of discussion on the subject.
