Recipients of emergency aid provided by the federal government today faced immense queues, rain and floods during banking hours, at Caixa Econômica federal branches and at lottery stores in Recife. They needed to go to the bank or to the lottery store because they registered with Poupança Social Digital and could only withdraw with this method.
At the CEF branch in the Encruzilhada neighborhood, in the northern part of the capital, the line was disorganized and people were trying to break down the doors to enter the bank first. The security guards had to act so that the agency was not invaded. The turmoil was so great that aid recipients did not respect the minimum one meter distance between people, causing overcrowding due to flooding caused by rain.
During the night, cards were distributed to try to organize and optimize the service, but to no avail. In the agglomeration were elderly people, pregnant women and other people with comorbidities, who have a preference for care.
Another CEF agency that registered riots was in Olinda, located on Avenida Presidente Kennedy, in the Rio Doce neighborhood. The queue was huge and the rain from the floods made the beneficiaries stay in the water so as not to get out of the queue.
In both agencies, there were reports of the presence of military police to support Caixa employees. Furthermore, it was possible to see people without masks, which are now mandatory in Pernambuco. The state already counts 450 deaths from covid-19 and 5,358 infected people. The new coronavirus pandemic killed 4,543 people in Brazil and infected 66,501, according to data from the Ministry of Health today.
Despite the calendar prepared by CEF, in which the beneficiary receives the money on the day of the month in which he was born, there were crowds and confusion. The SDS-PE (Ministry of Social Defense) and the Pernambuco Military Police did not reveal the number of calls to contain the confusion at the doors of agencies or lottery houses.
Check the withdrawal schedule:
– April 27 – for those born in January and February
– April 28 – for those born in March and April
– April 29 – for those born in May and June
– April 30 – for those born in July and August
– May 4 – for those born in September and October
– May 5 – for those born in November and December
The amount of emergency aid is R $ 600 (people without children) and R $ 1,200 (women or men who raise children alone) and is to help low-income families during a new coronavirus pandemic. Beneficiaries can withdraw money from the “mouth of the ATM” without the need to use a card, but it is necessary to request a withdrawal through the Caixa TEM application.
Who receives the Bolsa Família does not need to register or go to the CEF during this period, since the registration is done automatically and the withdrawal is made with the beneficiary’s card at the ATMs.
CEF President Pedro Guimarães spoke about the payment of the aid, which was due to start today, during a concert with President Jair Bolsonaro (without a party). Guimarães reported that 15 million digital accounts were opened.
The Secretary of Social Defense reported that the Prime Minister is working in the vicinity of lottery agencies and houses to avoid assaults against beneficiaries, in addition to repressing violence. The SDS said the queues are organized by security guards and CEF employees.
“Since the start of the pandemic, for example, crimes known as ‘banknotes’ have fallen 67% (from 12 to four cases, considering March 2020 to March 2019). In case of disturbances in financial institutions , the prime minister is on hold, at 190, and also at the CICCR (Integrated Center for Regional Command and Control) to restore order, “he said in a note sent tonight.
The Twitter He contacted the federal press office of Caixa Econômica in Pernambuco, but did not obtain a position until the publication of this text. The report contacted the bank’s press office in Brasilia, but forwarded the complaint to Pernambuco.
