A note seized with a real estate agent was presented by the MP-RJ (Public Ministry of Rio de Janeiro) as new evidence that Senator Flávio Bolsonaro (Republicans-RJ), eldest son of President Jair Bolsonaro (no party), used money diverted from the consultants’ salaries to buy two apartments in Copacabana, south of Rio, in 2012. Flávio Bolsonaro and his wife Fernanda Bolsonaro were denounced by the MP-RJ, as well as the American real estate agent Glenn Howard Dillard, who represented the owner of the properties in the financial operation. Flávio’s defense has said that the congressman’s accusations are unfounded.
According to the prosecution, Flávio led a scheme to divert part of the consultants’ salaries in his office in Alerj (Legislative Assembly of Rio de Janeiro). Some of the nominees are ghost employees, according to the MP-RJ.
Investigators used Dillard’s notes on a virtual calendar saved in the cloud to support the allegation that Flávio and Fernanda used amounts diverted from Alerj to pay the broker amounts not reported in formal apartment purchase records.

However, Dillard’s breach of bank secrecy signaled the receipt of another R $ 638.4 thousand in cash on the same day, deposited in the same HSBC bank branch where the payments were made on behalf of Flávio and Fernanda Bolsonaro – located at about 400 m from the registry office where the negotiation was registered.
“To hide the origin of the funds, these deposits were made with cash, in the same agency where the checks of the defendants Flávio Nantes Bolsonaro and Fernanda Antunes Figueira Bolsonaro were deposited,” the MP-RJ cites in the complaint.
In the investigators’ view, the cash deposits for Dillard “confirm the occurrence of undeclared (‘external’) payments by the then State Representative and his wife.”
Three months ago, Flávio gave testimony about the case and said he did not remember if he had a meeting with Dillard at the bank’s branch. He also stated that he did not know if the purchase was made with cash. Even so, Dillard was one of 17 defendants in the case, along with Flávio and his wife.
For MP-RJ, the purchase of apartments with under-invoiced values and the resale a few months later was used by Flávio to launder part of the resources diverted from Alerj.

Defense of Flávio Bolsonaro
The defense of Flávio Bolsonaro has already criticized the deputy’s complaint for the purchase of the apartment.
