The director general of the Brazilian Intelligence Agency (Abin), Alexandre Ramagem, said on Monday (11) in a statement that he has the “appreciation” of the family of President Jair Bolsonaro, but denied having “privacy”.
The damage testified to the Federal Police in Brasilia in the investigation authorized by Minister Celso de Mello of the Federal Supreme Court (STF) to investigate Bolsonaro’s alleged attempt to interfere with the PF.
The investigation was opened at the request of the Attorney General’s Office (PGR), after the then Minister of Justice, Sergio Moro, announced his resignation from office, alleging that there was political interference by Bolsonaro with the Federal Police.
Alexandre Ramagem was appointed new general manager of PF in place of Maurício Valeixo, dismissed by Bolsonaro. But STF Minister Alexandre de Moraes banned the appointment because he understood that there was a deviation from the purpose.
“[Ramagem disse] that the declarant [Ramagem] He is aware that he enjoys the consideration, respect and appreciation of President Bolsonaro’s family for the work done and the confidence of the President of the Republic in the declarant’s work, but he does not have personal intimacy with the members of his family “, Ramage said in the statement.
“[Ramagem também disse] that, in the opinion of the declarant, the reason for his disqualification, therefore, was the fact that he did not belong to the restricted nucleus of Federal Police delegates close to the then Minister Sergio Moro, since, given the facts now reported, he did not there would be an objective impediment that could lead to the rejection of his name, “he added.
In testimony, Ramage defends his appointment as director general of the PF

Alexandre Ramagem took over Bolsonaro’s security in 2018, after the then-presidential candidate was stabbed in Juiz de Fora.
On New Years Eve 2019, Ramage was photographed at a party with Councilman Carlos Bolsonaro, the son of President Jair Bolsonaro.
About the closeness of the two, Ramage said: “That in this fraternization, which was not a party, because the police would be ready to work very early, they were only family members. […], an opportunity in which Councilman Carlos Bolsonaro stopped to greet the police for the work done, because the next day the security provided by the Federal Police would end with the transmission of the work to the Office of Institutional Security – GSI. ”
For Ramage, his “disqualification” for the PF CEO position occurred “through a false argument of family intimacy never before seen as a premise or circumstance, only as a subterfuge for his own indication of people linked to his core leadership ” exclusive choice. ”
During testimony before the PF, Alexandre Ramagem denied that there had been any request, by Bolsonaro, for intelligence reports on “matters dealt with by the Federal Police as confidential matters.”
“[Ramagem também disse] that the President of the Republic never requested information or an intelligence report on a specific fact secretly investigated by the Federal Police, “the statement added.
Abin’s CEO also stated that there would be no specific mission to the PF, but to comply with the management of the Federal Police Department “in the best possible way.”
“[Ramagem acrescentou] that the President of the Republic never spoke to the declarant, in the form of interference, about specific investigations by the Federal Police that could, in some way, reach people related to him. ”
Three PF delegates testify in the investigation of Moro’s statements
Also on Monday, former PF CEO Maurício Valeixo testified in the investigation. For the Federal Police in Curitiba, Valeixo said Bolsonaro reported that he wanted someone with “greater affinity “in charge of the corporation.
Elected to the post by Moro, Valeixo was exonerated from his post on April 24 by Bolsonaro’s decision.
“For the declarant [Valeixo]From the moment there is an interesting indication about a specific investigation, political interference would be characterized, which did not occur at any time from the declarant’s point of view; that on two occasions, one in person and the other by telephone, the President of the Republic would have told the declarant that he would like to appoint someone with greater affinity for the post of Director General, without presenting any type of problem against the person of the declarant ; that the declarant points out that the president has never dealt directly with him about the change of superintendents nor has he asked him for intelligence reports or information on investigations or police investigations. ”
However, in the testimony given in Brasilia, Alexandre Ramagem said that he learned from Valeixo that the then CEO of PF wanted to resign.
“[Ramagem afirmou] that the suggestion of names for Dr. Valeixo’s succession occurred, as far as the declarant knows, due to the various manifestations of Valeixo’s desire to leave the function; that this desire was manifested several times to the declarant himself and also, as Dr. Valeixo himself declared to the President of the Republic and to former minister Sergio Moro. ”
