The general director of the Brazilian Intelligence Agency (Abin), Alexandre Ramagem, and the former superintendent of the Federal Police in Rio de Janeiro, Ricardo Saadi, testify before the PF in Brasilia, this Monday (11). They will be heard in the investigation investigating Jair Bolsonaro’s alleged attempted interference with the corporation.
The investigation was opened by the Attorney General’s Office (PGR), with authorization from the Federal Supreme Court (STF), after former Minister of Justice Sergio Moro resigned from his post in late April. He said he was pressured by Bolsonaro to make changes to the top of the Federal Police.
Ramage and Saadi, both delegates of the Federal Police, were summoned by Moro in an eight-hour deposition on the last day 2, in Curitiba. The same happened with former PF general director Maurício Valeixo, who will be heard this morning, also in the capital of Paraná.
In total, the Minister of the Federal Supreme Court (STF) Celso de Mello authorized the taking of 10 statements in the investigation, all scheduled for this week and related to Moro’s statements.
Bolsonaro’s alleged interference arose on April 24, when Maurício Valeixo was exonerated from the PF general management. For the vacancy, the director of Abin was appointed, and a friend of the Bolsonaro family, Alexandre Ramagem.
Hours later, Moro announced his resignation from the ministry, stated that he saw no reasonable reason for the change, and said he was under pressure to change other directors of the corporation. Among them, the then superintendent of the PF in Rio, Ricardo Saadi.
Valeixo’s replacement was brought to the Federal Supreme Court by the PDT, and Minister Alexandre de Moraes decided to suspend the appointment of Alexandre Ramagem due to signs of “misuse of purpose.” With that, Ramage returned to Abin and the government appointed Rolando Alexandre de Souza to command the PF.
In addition to Valeixo, Saadi and Ramagem, the Federal Police will listen to three other corporate delegates named by Moro as testimony. All have held or held leadership positions in the FP since last year.
The PGR will also collect testimonies from three ministers of the Jair Bolsonaro government: Luiz Eduardo Ramos (Government Secretariat), Augusto Heleno (Office of Institutional Security) and Braga Netto (Civil House).
Moro cited them because they were at a government meeting in which Bolsonaro allegedly made public demands about the exchanges in the FP. The video of this meeting was released by the government to the STF and is temporarily under confidentiality.
The list also includes federal deputy Carla Zambelli (PSL-SP). In messages presented by Moro to the investigators as evidence, and revealed by the National Journal, Carla asks the then minister to remain in office and promote changes in the FP command.

In exchange, according to the dialogues, Moro could apply for a seat on the Supreme Court. In response to Carla Zambelli, Moro said: “Darling, I am not for sale.”
These people should be heard, according to the head of the PGR, about “possible sponsorship, direct or indirect, of the private interests of the President of the Republic before the Federal Police Department, in order to occupy positions in commission and exonerate their occupants. ”
