The cities of Paraná registered rain and sleet this Sunday afternoon (27), which left more than 179,000 properties without power throughout the state, according to Copel.
At around 8:30 pm, Copel reported that 24,700 properties were without power in Curitiba. According to the city council, the most affected neighborhoods were Santa Cândida, Boa vista, Abranches, Barreirinha and Bairro Alto.
The city also reported that it registered 20 requests for tarps through the Municipal Guard system. There are no injured, displaced or homeless in the capital.
According to Copel, in addition to the capital, the cities that had the most properties affected by the blackout were:
- Ponta Grossa: 14.8 thousand
- Reserve: 10,3 thousand
- Colombo: 7.8 thousand
- Maringá: 7.6 thousand
- Admiral Tamandaré: 7.4 thousand
In Maringá, in the north of the state, until the beginning of the night, the Civil Defense had registered 12 falls of trees, one on a house and the other two on vehicles.

In Ponta Grossa, in the Campos Gerais region, firefighters reported that houses had been dethroned in the Uvaranas neighborhood.
The hail was recorded by residents of the Curitiba, Ponta Grossa, Cascavel and Maringá regions.
According to Somar, the phenomenon occurs when clouds form in places with high temperature and high humidity.
This Sunday afternoon, several cities in Paraná registered temperatures above 30ºC.
When the clouds reach 5 km in altitude, where temperatures are below zero, the droplets turn into ice. Stones can only fall if they are heavy enough to overcome the current of air that keeps them inside the cloud.
Also according to Somar, hail is usually formed in clouds called cumulonimbus, which reach 18 km in altitude.
