The rains that fell in Curitiba and the region, in the last two days, and that are still falling this Friday (9), contributed to slightly alleviate the level of the Companhia Paranaense de Abastecimento (Sanepar) reservoirs, which are on average 29 37% this Friday. But even with the rain, the rotation in the supply every day and a half (36 hours / 36 hours) in the capital will not end, people still need to save water, although the general amount of about 40 mm of rain where it had to Raining rules out , for now, the need for greater rigidity of the measure.

According to Sanepar, the Piraquarara 2 reservoir has 56.87%, the Passaúna reservoir 36.54%, the Piraquara 1 reservoir 23.07% and the Iraí, the driest, 16%. If the average capacity of the reservoirs that supply the region reaches less than 25%, Sanepar plans to expand the rotation to, for example, two days without water every day with water (24 hours / 48 hours). On Thursday (8), the index was 28%, which rose to 29.37% after the rain.

Sanepar’s Environment Director, Julio Gonchorosky, explains that the rains in recent days have been good. Sanepar’s own measurement, until 8 in the morning this Friday morning, indicated that the general average rainfall was already 40 mm, with the expectation that by the end of the day it would reach 50 mm. “Even though there was more scattered rain, it fell where it was needed. The account we do, normally, is that for every 100 mm of rain we earn 30 days in the offer. With a 50 mm rain, we won 15 days ”, highlights Gonchorosky.

Still according to him, the measurement carried out until 8 in the morning of this Friday is from Sanepar. “They are under our control. They are not yet Simepar numbers, but it is good news ”, reports the director, stressing that this does not mean that people can stop rationing water. “Follow the Conscious Use Request. Only for basic needs. We are still facing the problem of drought. We hope that in the coming weeks it will rain more ”, he said.

As Sanepar points out, according to the company’s monitoring data, the rains were good, but poorly distributed. At the top of the Serra do Mar, for example, an important area for the Iraí, Miringuava and Piraquara rivers, it rained almost 90 millimeters. In the Iraí dam it rained 40 mm, in Passaúna, 25 mm, in the Piraquara II dam, 10 mm. Thus, without counting the rain that arrives this afternoon, the average for the metropolitan region was 40 mm. The company also reported that prolonged rain helped soak the soil, helping the water drain more slowly. According to Sanepar, this is good for retaining water.

“There is a good rain forecast for this afternoon, which will add an average of 50 mm, which distances the adoption of a harder rotation of 48 hours by 24 hours.

When it rains 100mm, we have a month’s supply. If it rains 50 mm, we win two weeks ”, adds Júlio Gonchorosky.
