Fernando Diniz remains as São Paulo coach, according to Raí, soccer executive director.
After the 2-1 defeat against River Plate, in Argentina, and the elimination in the group stage of the Libertadores, the director spoke of keeping the coach in charge.
– Yes, with the technical committee, with Diniz (below). We know that there is a lot of work, a lot of seriousness, a lot of content, but we have to improve. We had two competitions this season, completely atypical with the pandemic. We had two competitions (Paulista and Libertadores) and we are out – said Raí, in Argentina, in an interview with give.
– We have the Brazilian Cup and the Brazilian Championship, so we have to believe that and São Paulo has to win and think about improving to have more conditions, capacity, chances of winning the titles. So we have two opportunities this season, which is the Brazilian Cup and the Brasileiro, completed the coach.

The São Paulo leader regretted the elimination of the Libertadores and took stock of the work carried out so far.
– It was not just a loss, it was a disqualification that hurts us a lot. It is bitter. You have to know that when you do not reach a goal you have mistakes, we have to review it. But there is also work, a lot of important things that have been done so far and that we believe can evolve. But it is a moment of sadness, reflection, appreciation, but we continue with the work. We know you have a lot of work to do so far. There are good things, but they were not enough and we have to improve.

Asked about what happened in São Paulo to leave the three-time champion of America and the World to enter a routine of eliminations like that of 2020 and last year, before Talleres, in the second phase of the Libertadores, Raí said:
– That’s why I’m talking about pain. I know, I know what the Libertadores is. I already won and I know what that is. I know how important it is for the São Paulo fans. São Paulo has been undergoing a check-up for several years, a lot to evaluate at the club, our work. But they are a great team and we will always get through this phase, we will win again. We have to continue working, following the path that we know we have to do everything that has been done so far in this last Diniz year. We know there is a lot to improve and we have the ability to improve.
Third place in the Brasileirão, São Paulo will face its rival in the Brazil Cup in a draw this Thursday. If it achieves third place in Group D, Tricolor will also play in the South American Championship, with no confirmed date of return.
