The radio host and councilor of Juazeiro do Norte Normando Sóracles, died at the age of 60, on Friday afternoon (25). He was admitted to the São Camilo Hospital, in Fortaleza, after testing positive for Covid-19, in early December. He leaves his wife Adriana Russo and his children, Daniel Damasceno and Lívia Romana.

Relatives of the radio host published a note lamenting his loss.

“It is with immense regret that the family of the announcer and businessman Normando Sóracles informs his friends and the entire population of his death. The death occurred on the afternoon of this Friday 25, in the Intensive Care Unit of the São Camilo Hospital, in Fortaleza. , as a consequence of the complications of the Covid-19 infection. The family thanks all the messages, the love and the prayers received during the period in which Normando fought for his life ”.

Norman even recorded a video in the hospital asking people to take care of themselves to avoid contagion with Covid-19.

Life and career

Normando Sóracles was born in the city of Cajazeiras, in the interior of Paraíba, but was based in Juazeiro do Norte, Ceará. He worked in the region as a broadcaster and founded media outlets that broadcast news about Cariri.

The announcer also served as a councilor in the municipality of Juazeiro do Norte, was an alternate member of the federal deputy and a candidate for mayor of the city in 2016.

Official mourning

The Municipality of Juazeiro do Norte decreed an official three-day mourning for the death of the announcer. The current mayor of the city, Arnon Bezerra, published a message in which he regrets the death of Normando.

“At the same time, it highlights the relevance of the work provided to Juazeiro do Norte and the entire Cariri region, in the business, political and communication areas,” he wrote.

On social media, Governor Camilo Santana supported Normando’s family and paid tribute to the announcer.
