The gang that broke into a bank branch building to steal the treasure safeAt dawn on Tuesday (1st), he left several bills lying on the streets of Criciúma, in the south of Santa Catarina.
Four men were arrested for theft of banknotes abandoned by criminals. According to the Civil Police, they were found in an apartment with more than R $ 810 thousand in two suitcases. Two suspects aged 24 and two suspects aged 27 and 28 are to be referred to the Regional Prison. In addition, the police found around R $ 300 thousand scattered in the streets.
According to the police, money was taken from the safe, which was the target of the criminal group. The full value of the theft has yet to be released. The explosion caused during the action damaged the structure of the regional treasury, which is attached to a bank branch in the center of the municipality.
In addition, the heavily armed gang set fire, blocked streets and accesses to the city, fired on the Military Police Battalion, used hostages as shields. During the action, which lasted just over an hour, the criminals fired several shots. Two people were injured: a military policeman and a guard.

The person in charge of the case, the police officer Ulisses Gabriel, said that the money that the gang could not take was left in the streets, bags and backpacks. All the bills have already been collected and the police will try to identify if more people have taken the money.

Police suspect that at least 30 people participated in the action. After the assault, the criminals fled by train. According to delegate Anselmo Cruz, from the State Criminal Investigation Division (Deic), ten vehicles used by criminals were located in Nova Veneza, which is about 200 kilometers from the municipality.
At around 5:50 am, the bomb squad team was at the scene and used a robot to remove about 30 kilograms of explosives that the criminal group had left at the scene.
The first reports of the shooting were made around midnight and lasted more than an hour and a half. Images on social media showed hostages and people surrounded on the streets by criminals. The sound of gunfire was heard mainly in the central region.
