The tribute and the revolt marked the wake of José Hilker Assunção de Sousa, 28, an app driver who had 95% of his body stolen and burned in Caucaia, in the Great Fortress. Family and friends said goodbye to the young man who died last Saturday (5), after 14 days in the Hospital Instituto José Frota (IJF).
Many app hosts attended Hilker’s farewell and also ventured about the sense of insecurity the category feels, especially after an episode like the one that happened to the young man on November 21.

“It’s very disgusting. Every life that I leave the house I think I will not return. Every turn for me is like a miracle. Only those of us who are application drivers know how difficult it is, ”said his colleague José Ivanir, an application driver for 3 years, in a rebellious tone.
“I’ve been through a lot of trouble. The most complicated was that they called me on the run. I arrived at the place and there were four (clients). They announced the robbery, tied me up and tortured me for three hours. They made about 7 robberies. I am almost a year old. and nothing. What I suffered was a psychological trauma. I can no longer work well. Every career is like a robbery. Being able to quit your job because you need to support your family.
The former aeronautical officer who acted as the driver of the request, José Hilker was approached by the suspects on Rua Campo do Madureira, in the Guajiru neighborhood. The criminals wounded José with a sharp object and, after suspecting that he was a policeman, they set fire to him and fled with the car. He had 95% of his body burned.
Tribute
The wake was held from 10:00 p.m. on Saturday (5) to 10:30 a.m. on Sunday (6), in a place provided by a social project, in the Itaperi neighborhood. On that occasion, Hilker’s comrades during military service shouted war cries.
After the wake, around 100 cars, with the friends and relatives of the victim, went in procession, honking their horns, to the Fortaleza Memorial Cemetery, in Maracanaú. The cars were decorated with black and white balloons and bore “Mourning Hilker” and “Saudade” messages.
For the neighbor of the application driver’s family, the retired Anita Carvalho, the day was one of pain. “He was a wonderful person. I am an evangelical, I have a lot of faith, but I believe that God did not send him such a death.”
Suspects caught
Three teenagers were seized and a 18 year old woman he was arrested for his participation in the November 23 attack. The adolescents, two 16 and one 13, are from the same family.
According to the police, the detained woman, Maria Valdencleiny Gomes Ferreira, served as bait to lure the driverbut I never got in the car. The three teenagers, who are two brothers and a cousin, got into the vehicle and followed it to Caucaia, where they carried out the assault.
During the trip, the teens searched the victim’s objects and I suspected she might be a police officer. It was then that, according to police, the suspects removed the driver’s objects from the car and used the gasoline they were carrying to refuel a motorcycle and set the victim on fire, investigations showed.
Then one of the 16-year-olds took the car and abandoned it in Fortaleza.
“It was the people who entered the application and at one point announced the theft and as I said here after collecting the driver’s belongings they saw photos of him in uniform and imagined that he was a policeman and that is why they decided to set fire to the body of the victim, ”said the secretary of the Ministry of Public Security (SSPDS), Sandro Caron.
Alexandre Fernandes case
In August of this year, the driver Alexandre Fernandes was kidnapped and murdered by criminals requesting a career in Bairro Maraponga. They announced the robbery and demanded that the victim go to the back seat of the car. The driver reacted and was shot by the assailants. Alexandre’s body was found two days after the disappearance, at kilometer 30 of BR-116, in Aquiraz, municipality of Grande Fortaleza. Eight people were denounced by the Public Ministry for the death of Fernandes.
