Military policeman Luis Carlos Felipe Martins was shot dead on Saturday morning (20), in the West Zone of Rio de Janeiro. Martins was close to the also military police officer Adriano da Nóbrega, denounced by the Rio Public Ministry (MP-RJ) for commanding a militia and the so-called “Crime Office”, a group of hitmen. Adriano was also assassinated in February 2020.

The policeman was hit by shots from a moving car while leaving the house. Another policeman was injured.

In a violation of telephone confidentiality requested by the MP-RJ and obtained by The Intercept website, Martins cited Adriano da Nóbrega’s relationship with President Jair Bolsonaro. The mention was made on February 15, 2020, days after Nóbrega’s murder in Bahia. “Adriano said he screwed himself for being a friend of the President of the Republic,” Martins said. Telephone monitoring was suspended shortly after the president’s mention.

The relationship between the two policemen was such that, after Adriano’s death, Martins even sold the cattle that those accused of running the “Crime Office” had in Bahia. A second report by The Intercept, published last Friday (19), revealed new wiretaps with details about Adriano da Nóbrega’s assets, which would reach millions of reais. Once again, Martins was cited as one of the estate’s managers.

Tribute of Flávio Bolsonaro

Like Nóbrega, Martins was honored in Alerj (Legislative Assembly of Rio), in 2003, by the then state deputy Flávio Bolsonaro.

“With several years of activity, this military policeman carries out his role with dedication, brilliance and gallantry. He serves society, performing with absolute speed and exceptional behavior in his activities. Throughout his career he has acted directly and indirectly in actions that promote security and tranquility for the Society, receiving various curricular compliments recorded in their functional settlements, ”says the text by Flávio Bolsonaro.

Shortly after the tribute, Adriano da Nóbrega, Martins and other policemen were arrested on suspicion of kidnapping, torture and extortion of three young men from a Rio favela. In 2005, they were convicted. They were later acquitted. When they were detained, they received a visit from Flávio Bolsonaro, according to a report by the newspaper O Globo.

A few years later, Martins was arrested again, in an episode more related to Adriano da Nóbrega. Together with other military policemen, they were considered suspects in the attempted murder of a group of people in 2008, by order of the daughter of a Carioca, Maninho, who was already dead. The crime would have occurred in the dispute over the inheritance of the saboteur. Later, Martins was released again.

Martins was 50 years old, had been in the prime minister for more than two decades and left a wife and two children.

“Martins was cowardly assassinated when he left home for Battalion 16. A sports lover, the policeman liked being in contact with nature, surfing, diving and practicing Jiu Jitsu. The Command of Battalion 16 is providing support to the family.” , He said. battalion, in a note published on social networks.
