A 22-year-old young man was arrested after confessing that he murdered Father Adriano da Silva Barros, from the mining town of Simonésia, in the Zona da Mata region. The body of the victim was found charred by police officers in Manhumirim, a municipality near the place where the priest lived. The information is from the BHAZ portal. (read below)
After confessing to the crime on Tuesday, the young man was arrested the next day. When the suspect admitted to committing the murder, the suspect claimed that he was in an affair with the victim.
According to BHAZ, Hadrian’s body was found by a Manhumirim resident. The man called the police, who had already been at the scene with relatives of the priest, to examine the body.
Also according to information from the portal, an hour before the body was found, a PM team had approached the perpetrator of the crime in the region. In addition to having cuts on his hands, the young man showed nervousness during the approach. However, as the army still had no information that the body was in that area, the suspect was released.
The man was also seen getting into Adriano’s vehicle on another occasion. The police then went to the residence of the offender, who confessed to the crime.
The young man claimed to have stabbed the priest to death on Tuesday and returned to the scene Wednesday to burn the body. According to him, the motive for the crime was a disagreement over a cash payment. Adriano’s car was reportedly taken to Rio de Janeiro by a relative of the young man.
