President defends Gatito Fernández, criticizes the VAR and will represent in CBF

After seeing Gatito Fernández get irritated by another intervention by the video referee and knock down the VAR booth with a kick after the defeat against Internacional, Nelson Mufarrej, president of Botafogo, came out in defense of his goalkeeper.

“Gatito’s reaction was that of those who are saturated with the series of errors and the lack of uniform criteria of the refereeing. Nobody can take it anymore. The group has been working hard, in an extremely professional way, in the face of a series of difficulties, and what we want is the basics, which is to compete on equal terms.

In Mufarrej’s opinion, Alvinegro has been “systematically harmed”, and points lost for plays in which the club considers that the VAR had “misinterpretation” will be lost during the Brazilian Championship sequence. The manager will go to CBF for a formal representation due to arbitration errors.

“We cannot accept being systematically harmed by misinterpretations of the VAR and the judge on the field. There are five consecutive games of serious losses and those points will be lost in the future.

“The essence of a competition is the symmetry of conditions for the parties in dispute. That is the minimum we want. Tomorrow we will go to CBF to expose our discontent and open a representation against the execution of the arbitration.”

With six points, Botafogo is the twelfth place of the Brasileirão with six points. The team’s complaints are also due to the bids for the Copa do Brasil, where the club qualified for the fourth phase and awaits a draw to find out who will be its next opponent.
