The head of the Civil Police of Rio Grande do Sul, Nadine Anflora, gave more details about the investigation of the homicide that occurred last night in Porto Alegre. A 40-year-old black man was beaten to death in a Carrefour supermarket. The delegate explained that she requested the preventive detention of the 2 aggressors, but she is also listening to the witnesses who were at the scene and acted “passively.”
“It is important that the population knows that the Civil Police are working with other investigated, not only with these 2. There are investigations with people who looked at everything passively. Each participation will be determined rigorously and quickly,” said Nadine, in an interview with Globonews .
Nadine did not say whether the witnesses would be criminally charged. But he admitted that other crimes may have occurred at the scene. It also set a deadline for completing the investigations.
“We want to conclude the investigation in 10 days, by re-investigating other witnesses this afternoon. And then we want to bring a piece of evidence to the Judiciary, so that these aggressors are punished,” explained Nadine.
The delegate regretted that this had occurred on the eve of Black Awareness Day.
“This investigation has no preference over others. But it is important to have a quick explanation, because it is an emblematic case. It is a case that shows the lack of empathy of the people. You have to be vigilant. It is very sad to have to report this aggression and This lack of empathy in society, today, Black Awareness Day ”, concluded the delegate.
The 2 suspects in the murder may be detained for more than 30 years, according to Nadine, but “everything will depend on the analysis of other images,” according to her. The Civil Police noted that the Carrefour supermarket will collaborate with the investigation, providing images and information to clarify the case.
