The Civil Police this afternoon arrested a third person suspected of being involved in the death of 40-year-old João Alberto Silveira Freitas. It is about the Carrefour inspector, Adriana Alves Dutra, 51, who in the recorded images of the beatings of Beto, as the victim is known, is next to the two security guards who immobilized him.

The information about the temporary detention was confirmed by the police chief, Nadine Anflor, during a press conference at the Police Palace, in Porto Alegre. For the police, the inspector was silent about Beto’s death, since she did not try to interfere.

Beto died after being beaten by two Carrefour security guards last Thursday (19), in the market unit in the north of Porto Alegre. The two have been prisoners since the night of the crime: Magno Braz Borges, 30, and the interim military police Young Gaspar da Silva, 24 years old.

The inspector has a “decisive role” in Beto’s death, according to the director of DHPP (Department of Homicides and Protection of the Person), Vanessa Pitrez. “He would have the command power over the two security guards. As he has a decisive position, the law contemplates the co-perpetrator of the homicide. A temporary arrest was requested and, in the middle of the afternoon, he appeared at the police station and was announced,” he said Pitrez.

Pitrez He said the arrest only occurred after it was confirmed that the woman did not vote in Porto Alegre, where there is a second round next Sunday and the law does not allow prison before the elections.

During the assaults, Adriana even threatened a motorcyclist who was filming in the supermarket parking lot, so that he would stop recording. The woman also said, when Beto was on the floor, that they would not let go of them because he could hit them. Adriana was also warned about her conduct by another inspector who told her that she “should not drive in that direction.”

On Saturday, Twitter He had shown photographs of Beto’s moment at the registration, before going down to the parking lot with the security guards.

Beto’s death sparked protests in Porto Alegre and other parts of the country. In the capital of Rio Grande do Sul, a group of 50 people managed to access the market courtyard, but withdrew after the Military Brigade acted. One person managed to invade and painted the facade of the building. Others set fire to materials.
