Police arrested two people in Campinas earlier this Thursday (3) suspected of participating in the theft at a Banco do Brasil branch in Criciúma, Santa Catarina, earlier this week.
The operation was carried out by São Paulo police. A 36-year-old woman was located in Parque São Jorge. At first, he denied his participation, but police officers were able to see his participation through cell phones and by exchanging messages.
The suspect’s husband, 41, was later arrested in a commercial building in the central region of the city. A third person is also sought, who would be the woman’s brother.
Weapons and explosives were also seized in the city and will be investigated to see if they are the same as those used in Santa Catarina.
Prime Minister Colonel Rogério Silva said the operation began with an anonymous complaint. “We received an anonymous report in Batalhão da Rota and we put intelligence to work. We contacted the police in Campinas,” he said.
According to the police, images of a vehicle used in the theft that supplied supplies were found on the Anhanguera Highway (SP-330), in Campinas. The images showed the couple in the vehicle, being driven by the husband. “With more information, we reached the address in Parque São Jorge and the business address here in the Center,” he continued.
