A military police officer was shot dead, off duty, last night in the Capão Redondo neighborhood, south of São Paulo. According to early reports, he was the target of an attempted robbery.
The prime minister was rescued and transferred to a nearby hospital, but he did not resist.
According to videos made by locals that went viral on social networks, the policeman André Luis Roberto arrived on his motorcycle with a person on his back.
They were surrounded by two motorcycles and André seems to have reacted. With the cop already down, the suspects return and appear to fire more shots at the prime minister.
According to the Civil Police, the suspects fired when they realized that André was a policeman. In the race, they even stole the driver’s car from an app, which was later abandoned.
The two managed to escape. The weapons used in the crime were found inside the stolen car.
The escape resulted in another death. A third suspect tried to escape through the roof of a house in the region, exchanged shots with the police and died on the spot. I was 18 years old.
The incident was registered in the 47th DP (Police District), located in Capão Redondo. The case was referred to the DHPP (Department of Police and Personnel Protection), which will investigate the case.
