In a residence in the Jardim Califrnia neighborhood in Uberaba, a 53-year-old man from Prata (MG) was killed by a military police firearm. This is because the man, in possession of a pruning and, with suspicion of having suffered a psychotic break, tried to reach the military and his team from the 4th Military Police Battalion (BPM). The Civil Police must investigate the causes of the murder.
According to the record of the PM’s occurrence, this Tuesday afternoon (08), inside a walled courtyard, in the residence of Rua José Eurpedes Pereira, the use of lethal force was necessary, since they were not necessary shots of rubber bullets to contain the cold man against the police.
Previously, the PM was called because the man, in possession of the pruning, threatened the residents of the neighborhood and even invaded homes. The moment the prime minister found him lying on a sofa in a residential area, he tried to talk, but without success.
About the man who was killed, according to the PM, he was tall, strong, black, with a shaved head and wore a green shirt and striped shorts. “I will kill you or make you run”: According to the PM, one of the phrases the dead man said at the time of confusion with the military.
The confusion started when the prime minister was called because the man threatened people and entered houses without authorization. In this sense, you may have had a psychotic break.
According to information from a witness, transmitted to the police file, the man was out of control and in possession of a pruning, threatening everyone on José Eurpedes Pereira Street. The witness said the man said he would break both of his minor nephew’s legs.
The team insisted on speaking loudly and with a good tone of voice, requesting that he stand with his back to the team with his hands on his head and his legs spread. But, he got up, armed himself with a pruning that was behind the sofa and went to the military and said, according to the police file: “I’m going to kill you or I’m going to make you run your ass.” Observing the different use of force, even according to the police file, the PM team insisted on a strong and clear verbalization, requiring six rounds of rubber ammunition, but that was not enough to contain the man.
Then, according to the prime minister, it was necessary to use lethal force through firearm shots to stop the action of the man, who at that time was already a short distance from the military.
The man died at the scene and the Civil Police technicians came to the scene and carried out the usual work. Then the man’s body was taken to the IML (Medical Legal Institute) in Uberaba.
Registration of the occurrence is still in progress and has not yet been finalized by the PM. There are points that have not yet been clarified, such as, for example, if the dead man had tickets with the police or if he suffered from a mental disorder. The Civil Police will investigate the murder, which would have been committed in legitimate defense.
