Pix, a new system of payments and instant transfers created by the Central Bank (BC), began to be valid for all Brazilians on Monday (16). Until then, the system was in the testing phase only for selected customers. On its first day of full operation, Pix recorded more than 1 million transactions between different institutions. The bank was worth the normal first day, even with “occasional incidents.”
The Central Bank estimates that the first day of operation of the PIX shows “the effectiveness of the new payment method and the enormous interest of users.” Some users reported slowness when using the service during the day.
The Central Bank affirms that the time exceeding the promised 10 seconds is natural. “Although there were specific situations in which the real credit to the customer’s account was made in a time greater than that required in the service level requirements, these incidents were considered natural by the technical staff of the Central Bank, given the complexity of this technological innovation, ”the bank said in a note.
Until 6 pm today, the million transactions carried out by Pix totaled R $ 777.3 million. The average value of each transaction was R $ 773. Transactions can be made and completed any day of the week and at any time.
