This analysis will be a development within the investigation opened by the Supreme Federal Court (STF) to investigate the alleged political interference of President Jair Bolsonaro in the autonomy of the Federal Police.
Bolsonaro’s attempt to interfere with the FP was denounced by the former Minister of Justice, Sérgio Moro, who attributed this decision to the government to his decision to leave the government.
In announcing his resignation, and before investigators, Moro stated that Bolsonaro was interested in changing the PF command in Rio to have a person of his confidence in the position.
The president has already publicly demanded the replacement of the Rio superintendent.
Bolsonaro confirms that the PF superintendent in Rio will resign
Earlier Tuesday, in statements to journalists outside the Alvorada Palace, Bolsonaro again denied having attempted to interfere with the Federal Police. He informed that the delegate Carlos Henrique Oliveira will leave the superintendency in Rio to assume the executive board of the PF, the second most important position in the corporation. With that, he will start working in Brasilia.
Bolsonaro also stated that Oliveira is leaving Rio because he accepted an invitation from the new director general of the Federal Police, delegate Rolando de Souza, who took office on Monday (4).
This Tuesday, the president spoke about the change in the leadership of the FP in Rio, the electoral cradle of him and his children, when he criticized in front of the supporters the headline of the newspaper “Folha de S. Paulo” on Tuesday, which says: “The new FP director takes over and comply with Bolsonaro’s request.”
Upon leaving office, former minister Sergio Moro denounced that one of the reasons for the president’s dissatisfaction with the former FP general director, Maurício Valeixo, was his resistance to change the superintendent of Rio.
“Where will the superintendent of Rio de Janeiro go? Being the executive director of PF. He will leave the superintendency, there are 27 superintendents in Brazil, to be executive director. Am I changing it? Do I have influence over the Federal Police? This is a scam, it is a scam, ”said Bolsonaro.
When asked if he asked for Oliveira’s replacement, Bolsonaro told reporters to shut up. And he continued:
“Shut up! Shut up! He’s going to be CEO at the invitation of the current CEO. I don’t interfere with anything. If he’s unhappy with me and if I interfere with the PF, I wouldn’t go there. It’s the message you give. I don’t have nothing against the superintendent of Rio de Janeiro. And I do not interfere with the Federal Police. And he is asked to be executive director. It is 02, “he said.
