Use of federal resources

The Federal Police enter the case according to the origin of the funds used by the city to pay the company. Between 2018 and 2020, R $ 2.2 million in resources from CFEM (Financial Compensation for the Exploration of Mineral Resources) were directed to Solux.

CFEM is a consideration paid by mining companies to the Union, states and municipalities for the exploitation of mineral resources in their respective territories. The contribution is collected by the federal entity, but 65% goes back to the municipality where the extraction occurred. In addition, 23% of CFEM goes to the states. The money can be used to finance infrastructure works.

In 2020 alone, mining activities in Corumbá have already generated R $ 8 million in CFEM for federal coffers. In 2019, it was R $ 14.6 million. Figures are from ANM (National Mining Agency).

Deflagrated by the Federal Police this Tuesday morning (6), Operation Offset had 62 men and complied with 12 search and seizure orders, issued by the 1st Federal Court of Corumbá, in Campo Grande and Corumbá. In a press release, the Federal Police said that they had seized cell phones, computers and removable media, as well as at least R $ 50,000 in cash.

The investigation began after receiving complaints that pointed to an alleged misuse of public funds as a result of service contracts between the City of Corumbá and an engineering company based in Campo Grande. Also according to the PF, the money diverted would go to officials and businessmen. The investigations also indicated that part of the amount destined to the payment of the contracts comes from the transfer of federal funds.

The name of the operation refers to the well-known printing technique, since this is the main branch of economic activity, registered before the competent bodies, of the investigated company. It should be noted that it has records of other fields of activity completely different from the main activity.
