BRASÍLIA – The Federal Police summoned Councilor Carlos Bolsonaro and Federal Deputy Eduardo Bolsonaro, sons of President Jair Bolsonaro, to testify in the investigation that investigates the organization of anti-democratic acts.
The testimonies are in the condition of witnesses and, at least so far, are not the subject of the investigation.
Ministry of Justice: defends anti-democratic acts as the right to freedom of expression
The requests for testimony came from delegate Denisse Dias Ribeiro, who is leading the case. As she had autonomy to carry out the investigation, the delegate did not have to request authorization from the Federal Supreme Court or the Attorney General’s Office (PGR) regarding these statements.
The investigation, opened at the request of the PGR, investigates the existence of a criminal organization in the performance of acts that require the closure of the National Congress and the Supreme Court, which involve the financing and disclosure of these acts.
On June 16, the PF carried out 26 search and seizure warrants against investigation targets, in an operation requested by the PGR. Among the targets were members of the party that President Bolsonaro is trying to form, the Alliance for Brazil. In addition, the STF minister, Alexandre de Moraes, determined the breach of bank secrecy by 11 Bolsonar parliamentarians, also at the request of the PGR, which seeks information about their possible participation in the financing of events.
