The Federal Police reported that they seized 10,000 basic food baskets and 10,000 hygiene kits from a store in Boa Vista on Saturday morning (14). Research indicates that there is an intention to use the material as a form of payment for votes.
Also according to the PF, the action comes after the seizure of documents from the Roraima government to register beneficiaries of a social program, which was carried out on the afternoon of last Sunday (8). At that time, records were found with voter data and “an indication of electoral predilection.”
Documents that were also apprehended indicate that the value of the materials may exceed R $ 35 million, according to the PF. It was not reported which candidate would benefit from the action or which position is competing.
“The police investigation indicates that there would be an intention to use assistance programs of the Government of the State of Roraima, such as the distribution of baskets of basic food and hygiene kits, as a form of payment of the votes in the electoral election, linking the registration to receive the shares to the Guarantee of the vote as determined ”, informed the PF.
Wanted, the Roraima government reported that it does not use “public machine for the benefit of any candidate“Read the full note at the end of this article.
Last week, the PF seized the documents in the building of the Virtual University of Roraima (Univirr) in the Tancredo Neves neighborhood, west of Boa Vista.
Public officials, including firefighters, were in the building and were surprised by nine state deputies. MPs arrived at the building claiming to have received a complaint that the government’s action was part of a vote-buying plan to benefit a candidate.
Before the arrival of the PF to Univirr, there was confusion, mouths, accusations and even shoves between parliamentarians and officials.
Last week, after documents were seized during the search, the government said it had been going on for ten days and condemned “any attempt to involve government actions in electoral practices.”
The Government of Roraima is unaware that companies prepare baskets of basic food and warns that, in no case, is it using the public machine for the benefit of any candidate for the elections.
It informs that the basic baskets do not belong to the government of Roraima, since the acquisition process is still ongoing and the delivery will only be completed after the electoral period, following the recommendation of the State and Electoral Public Ministry.
It also clarifies that the baskets were not seized in any public building of the Roraima government and that it already informed the Federal Police about all the procedures carried out within the Cesta da Família program.
It adds that this Government is based on and guides the constitutional principles that govern the Public Administration, respecting democracy and the rule of democratic law.
The Citizen Social Income Program was approved by the Legislative Power of the State, through Law No. 1,386 / 20, and is provided for in the 2020-2023 Multi-year Plan and the 2020 Annual Budget Law.
It highlights that the resource intended to cover the Family Cart Program has an execution forecast until the end of this year and that the State Government has been adopting administrative procedures (registration, screening and social investigation), to then continue with the other stages of execution.
However, with the aforementioned recommendations, there is a risk that the program will not be carried out this year, which can lead to the loss of resources now allocated, not only for the program in question, but also for the others destined to mitigate the effects of a pandemic.
