The Federal Police (PF), the Public Ministry (MP) and the Comptroller General of the Union (CGU) launched the operation on Tuesday (15) Zig Zag, which investigates fraud in roadworks of the National Department of Transportation Infrastructure of Minas Gerais (DNIT / MG). Seven search and seizure warrants are carried out in Uberlndia, in Tringulo Mineiro. A server from the regional DNIT unit in the city was eliminated and three companies were prevented from signing contracts with the public administration. More details about the investigation will be released at 10 am this Tuesday (15), at a press conference scheduled by the PF.

Those investigated had about R $ 50 million in blocked assets. They are suspected of crimes such as embezzlement (corruption practiced by public officials), criminal organization, passive and active corruption, in addition to fraud in tenders and in the execution of contracts. The penalty provided for crimes of up to 40 years in prison. The operation started this morning mobilized 25 federal police officers and four CGU auditors, who raided three residences, a business address and the DNIT of the municipality of Tringulo Mineiro.

The Zig Zag operation corresponds to the fourth phase of the operation ROTA BR-090, which discovers deviations in road works contracts for a total value of R $ 1.1 billion. OR prejudice estimated to the public coffers, to date, exceeds R $ 500 million. Throughout the investigation, twelve public officials were removed, including four former superintendents. In addition to Uberlndia, employees were assigned to the DNIT units in Oliveira, Zona da Mata, Prata, in Tringulo Mineiro, and in Tefilo Otoni, in the Jequitinhonha Valley.
