OMG?! Last Wednesday (9), a man was beaten in a restaurant in Curitiba, simply for having coughed inside the establishment. According to the Military Police, the aggressor was irritated by the client’s cough and climbed on top of him, firing punches and kicks, accusing him of being with Covid-19. The scary scenes were recorded by the security camera of the place.
In the images it can be seen that the “stressed” client had already changed tables to get away from the coughing and his partner. Even with the distance, the assailant began to stare at the couple, until he rose quickly, kicked that struck both the man and the woman, and launched a sequence of blows at the victim.
Only with the video, which has no sound, it is not possible to know what the man said during the scene. However, according to the prime minister, the client would have coughed repeatedly just because he had choked. What a situation, people! Check out the recording here:
The battered couple, Vanderlei Guimarães and Jaqueline Martins, decided to speak today (11) about the case of Jornal da Record, in which the two revealed details of the scene. “You didn’t know what was going on, did you? When I managed to get up, I could see that they were attacking me, [o homem estava] pointing in my direction: “You are with Covid, you are with Covid!”He explained.
After the sequence of attacks, the man tried to justify himself by saying that he would have relatives hospitalized because of the disease. But Vanderlei did not let go and said: “I said my father passed away 3 months ago and that’s not why I go out and attack people”.
Jaqueline also found everything “absurd.” “I think like this: if I am worried about the virus and I don’t want to expose myself, I stay home. Imagine if I go to the supermarket or the pharmacy, I see someone coughing or sneezing and putting the person on board, am I going to accuse him of Covid?, said in another interview, for TV Globo.

This Friday (11), the couple went to the Legal Medical Institute to take a criminality test. According to the Civil Police, the corporation is investigating the case and “taking all necessary measures.” The assailant’s defense said they apologized for “Having lost my head due to the stress caused by the pandemic and the fear of being infected”.
