The United States recently accused an Iranian-backed militia of an attack that killed three soldiers, two Americans and one Briton, in Iraq. In retaliation, the United States carried out airstrikes against militants.
Covid-19 pandemic strain
Even amid the new coronavirus pandemic, tensions between the United States and Iran have continued in recent weeks. The hostilities take place in a complicated context between the two countries, especially after the death of the Iranian general Qassem Soleimani in early January.
In March, the United States told Iran that the spread of Covid-19 will not save the country from US sanctions, even though Iranian regime officials have accused the measures of strangling the already battered Asian economy.
