A video recorded the moment when a black woman, educator Eliane Espírito Santo da Silva, 39, was punched in the face during a police collision in Macapá. The Amapá Military Police (PM) reported that it will investigate the case, that it was an isolated event and that the agents were removed from their duties.

This Sunday (20), the governor of Amapá Waldez Góes described the action as “full of racist attitudes.” For this reason, it reported that the Prime Minister ordered the “careful and rapid investigation of the facts.”

The rapprochement took place on Friday night (18), in a region called Loteamento São José, in the North Zone of the capital. The teacher was arrested and presented to the Integrated Center for Public Security Operations (Ciosp) in the Pacoval neighborhood for resistance, contempt and disobedience.

The video was made by the son of the pedagogue and resonated on social networks. According to Eliane, he was in a family friend’s car, in front of the house, when the approach occurred. In the vehicle were her, her husband, two friends, a 15-year-old teenager and a 4-year-old niece.

The pedagogue described that three military policemen began the search for the men, while they told him to cross the street. Eliane began recording a video from his own phone, which was captured by the team.

The video shows that she was hit in the face, resisted, but was immobilized and handcuffed. Her husband, Thiago da Silva, was also arrested on the same charges. Eliane said that, before being arrested, he also questioned the approach; Then one of the policemen would have told him to be quiet, would have called a “tramp” and would have beaten him.

“The police already approached us pointing guns at the car. They approached everyone except me; one of them hit my husband in the stomach. I told the team to release the teenager because he is from the field, and it was my responsibility “. I crossed, I stayed on the sidewalk of my house. Only one of them attacked me, ”Eliane commented.

“The initial approach was to drown me, trip me and ‘wallow in’. I had no reaction, they beat me, I just shouted so that the population could see the police unnecessarily attacking me. At no time was there contempt, at no time did I attack him. verbally, the one who has already physically assaulted me ”, he added.

The governor published a note on social media stating that the images “embarrass the security forces and the State of Amapá.”

“Scenes like this cannot be tolerated and cannot be repeated,” he wrote.
