Pazuello says the national vaccination schedule is ‘changing’

The Minister of Health, Eduardo Pazuello, said today that the constant changes in the scenario make it difficult to define a vaccination schedule against the new coronavirus. According to him, the government is negotiating “every day” with the various companies that have developed immunizers against the disease.

“The distribution and immunization schedule is changing,” he emphasized after visiting the Critical Health Supplies Distribution Center in Guarulhos, Greater São Paulo.

The minister also listed the factors that make it difficult to establish a mass vaccination schedule in the country.

“Companies that present new proposals. Manufacturing interrupted or accelerated. Registration in Anvisa (National Health Surveillance Agency). Each and every one of the vaccines distributed by the SUS (Unified Health System) will be registered with a guarantee of safety and efficacy”, Pazuello promised.

The minister once again said that in the best case scenario, vaccination can start from January 20 and in a more pessimistic perspective, only at the end of February.

According to Pazuello, the federal government maintains that immunization is “voluntary.” The minister also pointed out that the SUS is prepared to carry out the vaccination as soon as the drug is available.

“We have the structure and the capacity to distribute: receive, store, handle, transport and deliver the coronavirus vaccine in all parts of Brazil,” he said.
