Fifteen days after what was his last statement in Brasilia, the Minister of Health, Eduardo Pazuello, said on Thursday (26) that the Covid-19 figures in Brazil show a disease “spread”.

Brazil’s transmission rate is the highest since May, according to data from Imperial College London, UK, and experts are already warning that we are experiencing a second wave of the pandemic.

In the act of this Thursday, the minister – a soldier of the active logistics specialist – did not respond to the journalists’ questions and did not address the problem with the 7 million tests stored by the ministry and which are close to expiring.

“We are talking about the spread of pollution and deaths in some regions. Yes, just follow the data on our website. In the south and southeast of the country the toll is clearer. And in the north and northeast it is much less shocking, with some cities out of the curve. In the Midwest it’s much more in the middle of the road. Yes. This is a repeat of our pandemic. ”

  • Brazil has 170,800 deaths from Covid with an upward trend in 12 states

Pazuello said that the country will experience four waves of pandemics, but the concept he uses is different from the one applied by epidemiologists and infectious disease specialists.

“We will have four waves, be careful not to be fooled,” he said.

According to the minister, the classification he adopted is as follows: the first wave deals with the advance of the disease.

“The first (wave) is exactly the pollution, the deaths, everything that happened and has been happening with the rise. This is a wave that can have one, two rises. But it is a wave” – Eduardo Pazuello, Minister of Health

In the second wave, according to Pazuello, are the diseases that were impacted by the pandemic.

“The second wave, which is as serious as the first, are the diseases that were affected. We have many people who have not been treated properly.” – Eduardo Pazuello

In the third wave, according to the classification adopted by the minister, there are cases of family violence. “The third wave is very internal, because it is within the family. It has to do with the increase in domestic violence, femicides, rapes. This happens at home, with the isolation and the economic crisis,” said Pazuello.

Also according to the minister, the fourth wave is the increase in cases of self-harm and suicides.

“Don’t mistake waves for new shoots,” Pazuello said. The minister said that what Europe is currently experiencing is a new outbreak associated with a mutation of the coronavirus.

“There is a new outbreak that can become endemic and then pandemic and can be confused with the waves of the first. So the section is serious. It goes in line and you have to be vigilant, “added Pazuello.

Although a mutation has been identified, experts do not associate the change in the virus with what they consider a second wave in Europe.

The minister also briefly discussed the national immunization plan, which is the subject of accusations by the Federal Court of Accounts (TCU).

“When we have logistical data on vaccines, we close the plan,” said the minister. “We need to bring the arrival a little closer to close the logistics plan,” added Pazuello, noting that other aspects are already defined, such as the target audience and other details.

Regarding resources, Pazuello said that the Ministry of Health has R $ 6 billion in funds to face the Covid. He mentioned that the resource will be used for beds in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), to finance surgeries and treatments that were blocked during the pandemic and for the conclusion and execution of the vaccination plan.

“The resources we have will be used to reinforce the ICUs, to reinforce the attendance of surgeries and treatments that were impacted,” said Pazuello.
