Palmeiras thrashes Bolívar, advances in Libertadores and even Ron disenchants

Today, Palmeiras managed to qualify for the last 16 of the Copa Libertadores and washed their souls. With the 5-0 victory over Bolívar (BOL) at Allianz Parque, the team took the delay after performances in which they created very little recently, and even Ron disappointed: it was his last goal in the victory, in which Willian, Wesley, Viña and Raphael Veiga also scored.

Verdão reached 13 points, remains leader and undefeated in Group B after five rounds – Bolívar, with four, is third and needs to dry up Guaraní (PAR). The Paraguayan team is in the second position of the table, with seven, but it can be guaranteed tomorrow in the eighth (1), when it visits the Tigre (ARG), lantern of the double.

The last match of the first phase of Palmeiras will be on October 21, against Tigre, again at Allianz. For Brasileirão, the team will host Ceará, on Saturday (3), at 7pm.

Ron finally scores the first goal

Hired at the beginning of the year after standing out for Atlético, Rony finally got his first goal with Palmeiras. New to the squad, the forward had 21 games for the club, always marked by nervousness when defining. After starting the play of the goal that opened the scoring, at the start of the match with Willian, the 11 shirt opened his smile when he completed a cross from Wesley and made the fifth from Verdão. Even Vanderlei Luxemburg laughed on the bench, noting that the forward “got the zica.”

The best: Wesley is not intimidated and also disenchanted

Unlike the last games, Luxembourg went up to Palmeiras with two sprinters: Wesley on the left and Ron on the right. The player revealed by the Verdão youth teams showed a lot of ingenuity, even though he had made his mistakes in making decisions in the first half. However, it was he who led the way to the win, with a beautiful goal just after the break. Most of the time he played in 2020, the boy replied.

Weverton and Felipe Melo make a mess

Weverton and Felipe did a great job at 43 minutes into the first half. The two tried to make a short shot on the goal kick, but the goalkeeper hit the ball twice and the referee signaled an indirect free kick to Bolívar on the edge of the small area. The goalkeeper placed a different barrier, behind him and over the goal line. The strategy worked, as Álvaro Rey’s strong shot was stopped by Raphael Veiga. This was Verdão’s biggest risk at the beginning.

Avalanche in the second half

Palmeiras scored five goals for the first time of the year and three of them came in five minutes: Viña, with a strong shot, Raphael Veiga, after crossing the Uruguayan side, and Rony gave Verdão his best offensive performance of the season. After an even first half, with 12 happy endings and 10 for the Bolivians, the second was largely dominated by Palmeiras.

Vanderlei Luxembourg’s team, undefeated in 19 games (nine wins and ten draws), created three times more chances than the rival after the break and left a better impression than the drag games they had played recently. It also ended the sequence of five consecutive draws at Allianz Parque.
