Palmeiras takes off in the 2nd quarter, wins Libertad and goes to the semifinal of Liberta

Palmeiras confirmed their classification in the semifinals of the Copa Libertadores, defeating Libertad (PAR) 3-0 (15) today at Allianz Parque. Verdão would advance with a 0-0 draw, as the teams were 1 to 1 in Asunción, but Gustavo Scarpa, Rony and Gabriel Menino scored in the sand and guaranteed another win under Abel Ferreira.

Despite the Paraguayans feeling particularly uncomfortable playing from above, Palmeiras went into halftime winning 1-0 and took off in the final stage after Piris was sent off for a hard tackle on Raphael Veiga.

With the result, the team now awaits the qualifier between the duel between River Plate (ARG) and Nacional (URU). The Argentines won 2-0 and have a good advantage. The return will take place on Thursday (17), at 9:30 p.m.

BEST: RONY AND SCARPA SHINE

The previously contested 11 jersey has been highly improvised as a center forward and today he scored his fourth goal for the Copa Libertadores – taking all competitions into account, Rony scored the nets eight times. Although small (1.67m), the Paraguayan brand bothered a lot and also participated in the play of the goal that opened the scoring at Allianz Parque.

Gustavo Scarpa relived his best moments and had a decisive participation, opening the scoring with a strong kick from outside the area and giving a good option on the left wing. He also crossed the ball for the third goal, from Gabriel Menino.

THE WORST: EX-SÃO-PAULINO IS EXPELLED

Ivan Piris, a team with a spell in São Paulo, made life very difficult for Libertad when he stepped on Raphael Veiga in the second half, after a tough ball dispute between Ron and Cáceres. The VAR called the referee Jesus Valenzuela to verify, and the judge’s decision was to apply the red card directly to the defender of Libertad.

GÓMEZ MAKES EFFORT, BUT NEEDS TO GET OUT

Leader of the Palmeirense defense, Gustavo Gómez had a head collision with Bareiro in the first half, suffered a cut, but put on a cap and returned to the game, despite the scare. In the second half, the Paraguayan collapsed on the field and ended up asking for a replacement. Emerson Santos replaced him and had a confident performance.

YIELD OF PALM TREES

Abel Ferreira’s team played more compact than in the previous trip, in Asunción, and saw that Libertad once again created more problems from above. Even so, he had more possession throughout the game and took advantage of Piris’ expulsion to score the second and cool Libertad in the game. The game was not easy, but Verdão played organized and looked for different ways to get to the goal of Martín Silva, who stood out in the confrontation. With one more, he took over and solved the score.

PERFORMANCE OF FREEDOM

The Paraguayan team sold the elimination expensive and was upset with the high score at the exit of Palmeiras in their area and with the bids for the second ball, mainly on the back of Marcos Rocha. Libertad tried to annoy, but ended up succumbing after the expulsion of Piris. Unlike going, they managed to get less to Weverton’s goal.

GAME CHRONOLOGY

Palmeiras had a beautiful kick from Gustavo Scarpa to open the scoring at Allianz Parque, 20 minutes into the game, after Libertad stopped in Weverton on a clear occasion, when Ferreira dribbled Gustavo Gómez and went to the face of the goalkeeper of Palmeiras. After the expulsion of Piris, at 18 of the second half, Verdão pressed and reached the second, with Ron, at 22. Gabriel Menino, after a beautiful play by Willian and a cross from Gustavo Scarpa, closed the scoring, at 42 .

NINE VICTORIES IN ALLIANZ

Palmeiras continues to outperform his rivals in his arena, ever since he changed command. With Andrey Lopes and Abel Ferreira, there are nine games, with nine wins, 28 goals in favor and none against. Even without a crowd, Allianz Parque was once again a melting pot of cultures.
