Palmeiras begins the week with the expectation of defining his new coach. Miguel Ángel Ramírez, technician who directs Independiente Del Valle de Ecuador, negotiates with Verdão. The Spanish is the main candidate for the vacancy left by Vanderlei Luxembourg.

In order for the talks to move forward with a positive outcome or even for the club to focus on another goal in the event of failure with Ramírez, Palmeiras sent director Anderson Barros and vice president Paulo Buosi to Quito.

The idea is to meet with the coach and the Ecuadorian club in the next few days. Talks have been going on since last week. Palmeiras is optimistic about hiring, but there is still a need for adjustments.

The 35-year-old Spaniard has a contract with Independiente Del Valle until December 2021 and, last week, said that his situation was complex, responding to the interest of Palmeiras.

Since his departure from Luxa, the Palmeirenses have been evaluating alternatives in the foreign market, the current preference of the club. Last week, President Maurício Galiotte gave a press conference and spoke of the need to create a team profile with a more offensive and intense DNA.

Although he does not define his new coach, Verdão will continue to be managed by Andrey Lopes. The team returns to the field this Wednesday to face Tigre, from Argentina, at 9:30 p.m., at home, for the last day of the Libertadores group stage.

There are four consecutive defeats, all for the Brazilian Championship. The result took Verdão from fourth to eighth place, with 22 points, 12 behind the leaders Internacional and Flamengo.
