Palmeiras are back on the market looking for a coach. Following Miguel Ángel Ramírez’s refusal, the club has now returned to discuss what the next step will be and is still evaluating who will be the next negotiating target. There are lauded profiles behind the scenes at Verdão, but no definite name.
No club since leaving Vélez Sarsfield in March, Gabriel Heinze is one that the board likes and emerges as one of the favorites. The Argentine already had the name requested by the fans even before the resignation of Vanderlei Luxembourg, with a campaign on social networks in his favor.

In the club’s opinion, the 42-year-old former defender fits exactly the desired profile: a coach with modern concepts, who makes his teams play offensively. The fact of being Argentine is also something that pleases, since it is considered a very good school for coaches, in addition to international experience, even as an athlete.
In Argentina, Gabriel Heinze was also famous for different working methods and a tougher profile with the players. This, however, is not something that concerns the Verdão board. The fact that it is free in the market is also a factor in favor of the trade.
Quique Setién, formerly of Barcelona, is another of those who is considered to have an interesting profile for the new project conceived by the Palmeirense directive, which values it very well. The 62-year-old Spaniard doesn’t have a club either. However, an attack against him is considered a bit more complicated.

Behind the scenes at Palmeiras, it is understood that the ideal is to hire a foreign coach at this time. However, names are also evaluated in the national market, although they are in the background.
The board continues to be cautious in defining its new goal, since it now considers having less time, even more so after the refusal of Miguel Angel Ramírez. The idea of betting on a long and intense project continues.
Until you hire a manager, Palmeiras is still managed by interim Andrey Lopes. The next appointment will be on Saturday, at 4:00 p.m. (Brasilia time), against Atlético-GO, away from home, for Brasileirão.
– For any technician in the world that we charge, we are here in Brazil now, working time. For a coach to come to Palmeiras, or to any club in Brazil, we are all demanding it. Time, time and time. To have a quality work, that has intensity, that is offensive, there will be no coach of Palmeiras who will put his ideas in a short time. There is no such thing. You have to make time for any professional who is here. Yes, I can help, that’s my job and I will help you. And remembering that in the last three Libertadores we finished first in the general classification. I’ll help, management knows. When you arrive, if you arrive, you will be well received, in the best possible way – said the assistant.
