Despite Flamengo’s efforts to postpone the match against Palmeiras at Allianz Parque, scheduled for this Sunday (27), the match has a chance to happen. With more than a dozen players infected with the new coronavirus, Rubro-Negro presented not only a request for postponement in the Athletes Union and CBF, but also in the STJD, which, on Saturday night (26), denied the request Rio team reconsideration.

The Union of Employees of the Rio de Janeiro Club (Sindeclube), whose president is a member of the Flamengo security team, determined the suspension of the match, since there is a “high risk of contagion” to the professionals selected for the duel. However, CBF opposes Sindeclube’s court order and is attempting to take legal action for the match to take place at Allianz.

Palmeiras talks of “paralyzing” the championship if the CBF protocol is not followed and President Maurício Galiotte has the support of other Serie A clubs in the Brazilian Championship.

In early May, when Brazil was facing one of the most delicate phases in the fight against the new coronavirus, Flamengo fired 62 employees to clean the expense sheet. The lack of sensitivity on the part of the management was criticized by the workers, who described the attitude as “inhumane”.

Just over 20 days after the flamenco debacle, President Rodolfo Landim was in favor of the return of football to Brazilian territory. It is worth mentioning that, at that time, Rubro-Negro had already taken a contrary stance by the Rio de Janeiro authorities and chose to resume training the week before the mandatory declaration.

– Why not go back to football? Just because the pandemic curve is rising? But it is increasing because other activities do not use our protocol. What is the protocol for construction stores? Soccer is setting an example. – fired, in an interview with Fox Sports.

The following month, Flamengo again failed to comply with the obligations imposed by the Federation of Rio de Janeiro (FERJ). The team played 24 hours before the match that marked the resumption of the Carioca Championship, while the “safe play” protocol provided for at least two days of concentration.

In the second round of the Brasileirão, Flamengo had one more chance to show concern for public health, but he did not. Oblivious to Covid-19 infections in the Atlético Goianiense squad, the Rio de Janeiro team did not comment on the possibility of not entering the field. The game ended with a setback for the Cariocas, by the score of 3-0.

Days before the Covid-19 outbreak was reported in Rubro-Negro, Marcos Braz vehemently defended the return of the crowd to the stadiums.

– Having security, there must be an audience. – declared the leader. This company, which was vetoed by CBF, in a meeting held this Saturday.

Finally, last Friday (27), the Rio club fired the social media Matheus Grangeiro, for having published a photo of the squad celebrating, crowded together and without a mask, the victory over Barcelona-EQU. The image generated negative repercussions, especially after the confirmation of the Covid-19 outbreak in the team. On the photo, Rodolfo Landim commented on the program ‘Writing SporTV’, hours before saying goodbye to Matheus:

– Yes, (the players) were all tested. It is obvious that when you go to take a photo, you do not take a photo with a mask. I don’t take a photo with a mask: I take off my mask and hold my breath. Let’s go out. Players play without a mask, it is difficult to contain, it is natural. They greet each other, they hug.
