Paes and Crivella to compete for second round in Rio, says Ibope exit poll

RIO – The exit poll published by Ibope this Sunday points to a probable second round between Eduardo Paes (DEM) and Marcelo Crivella (Republicans) in the dispute for the mayor of Rio. According to Ibope, Paes reached 39% of the valid votes this Sunday, while Crivella got 20%. The margin of error is two percentage points, up or down.

In the poll released the Sunday after the voting ended, at 5 pm (Brasilia time), Benedita da Silva (PT) had 14% and Martha Rocha (PDT) had 11% of the valid votes.

In the poll released by Ibope on the eve of the first round, Crivella, Martha and Benedita were in a triple technical tie, with a numerical advantage for the current mayor. The exit poll shows Crivella’s advantage for Benedita and Martha above the margin of error.

Luiz Lima (PSL) obtained 6% of the valid votes, Renata Souza (PSOL) 4% and Eduardo Bandeira de Mello (Rede) and Paulo Messina (MDB) each had 2% of the valid votes. Clarissa Garotinho (PROS) and Fred Luz (Novo) had 1% each. Cyro García (PSTU), Glória Heloíza (PSC), Suêd Haidar (PMB) and Henrique Simonard (PCO) did not reach 1%.

Ibope listened to 5,000 voters. The survey was registered in the Superior Electoral Court (TSE) under protocol RJ-07184/2020. The confidence level is 99%.
