The Carioca U-20 Championship returned this Wednesday, with the round of 16 matches. The competition was stopped after the dispute of the first round, in March, due to the coronavirus pandemic. In Clásico Vovô, Fluminense beat Botafogo 1-0. Flamengo, current two-time champion, beat Nova Iguaçu 2-1.
At Xerém, after a disputed and goalless first half, Fluminense opened the scoring with Ewerthon, two minutes after the second stage.

In Laranjão, Nova Iguaçu opened the scoring with Ewerton early in the game, two minutes into the first half. Ten minutes later, Samuel dialed and left everything the same. Flamengo’s comeback came in the first half at 48 minutes, with a goal from Gustavo.
The Safe Gaming Protocol, developed for this year’s Carioca Serie A of professionals, which ended in August, will serve as a model for the U-20 competition. The Rio de Janeiro State Soccer Federation (Ferj) states that adjustments will be made and that the Covid-19 scenario will be constantly evaluated during the championship.

In the Guanabara Cup, the teams from Group A face those of Group B.
- Fluminense beat América-RJ and Botafogo and adds six points in the B Group.
- Botafogo drew with Volta Redonda and lost to Fluminense, and adds a point in the Group A.
- Flamengo beat Friburguense and Nova Iguaçu and also has six points in the Group A.
- Vasco, who plays this Wednesday at 3pm, against Cabofriense, beat Boavista in his debut and has three points in the B Group.
