Amapá has faced an energy crisis since November 3, when a fire struck the state’s main substation. About 90% of the population faced a 4-day blackout and a new total blackout on November 17, which was resolved in about 4 hours.
On Saturday (21), President Jair Bolsonaro (non-party) concluded the first book in the state since the blackout. He participated in brief ceremonies to activate part of the thermoelectric generators hired on an emergency basis and that had the promise of restoring power to 100% of the state.
The Ministry of Mines and Energy (MME) reported, on Sunday night, that the “supply of electricity was within normal limits” throughout the day, fulfilling 89% of the average load. Macapa, for example, most of the barrios were in power for most of Sunday. However, at night, there was rationing in some regions.
The agency also reported that the other generators, which would be activated throughout the day, were not installed due to “difficulties related to logistics and weather” and that it is expected that for this second “34 MW will be operational.” [megawatts] thermal generation ”.

According to the Hydrometeorology Center (NHMet) of the Institute of Scientific and Technological Research of the State of Amapá (Iepa), the weather forecast indicated that it would drop by 45 millimeters, mainly in the central strip of the state.
“This rain as of now on Sunday was the most intense of all of 2020. It had an approximate accumulated of 74 millimeters in less than an hour of rain. And these rains are spreading to practically the entire South, Center, West and part of the municipalities in the north of the state ”, described Jefferson Vilhena, coordinator of NHMet.
The amount of water that fell on Sunday was almost half of what already fell in the month and the forecast is that it will rain more in November.
“We realize that these rains are intensifying and may be more intense than this. Only in this month of November, the accumulated precipitation has already exceeded 150 millimeters, which is up to 3 times more than expected for the whole month, ”said Vilhena.
