Seven employees of the heliport in the West Zone of Rio where the minor offense Fernando Iggnácio was murdered last Tuesday testified at the Homicide Police Station in the capital this afternoon. The researchers keep the content of the statements confidential.
The police intend to locate and summon the men who worked on the offender’s personal safety. The police want to understand why Iggnácio was without an escort when he was killed. The helicopter pilot who brought the driver from Angra dos Reis has also been heard. To date, 15 witnesses have testified.
Richa: Executed in Rio, Fernando Iggnácio was a declared enemy of Rogério Andrade
Planned: The crime office had a plan to kill Fernando Iggnácio
Lux: The heirs of Castor de Andrade fought for an island in Angra, from where Fernando Iggnácio returned before being assassinated
Iggnácio was hit by five rifle shots when he was walking alone to get an armored vehicle in the company parking lot without an air taxi. The Civil Police works with the hypothesis that the murderer was hidden since early Tuesday in a vacant lot, next to the crime scene, awaiting the arrival of the aircraft that brought Iggnácio. The crime occurred around 1:30 pm. At that time, at least ten AK-47 rifle shots were fired. Shortly after the attack, the sniper used the same wasteland as an escape route.
Family dispute
Fernando Iggnácio was the son-in-law of Castor Gonçalves de Andrade e Silva, who became the master of contravention in Rio in the 1970s and even expanded his domains to the northeast. He died of a heart attack in April 1997, starting a family war for the succession. Still in life, Castor had chosen Rogério, his nephew, to lead the misdemeanor in the West Zone and other areas of the state. Castor’s son Paulinho disagreed and started a battle with his cousin. In 1998, Paulinho and a security guard were killed in Barra. Castor’s son-in-law, Fernando Iggnácio Miranda, took the place in the dispute with Rogério.
According to police investigations, since the mid-1990s, Fernando Iggnácio began to control Adult Fifty, a company that operated slot machines throughout the West Zone. In 1998, Rogério allegedly founded Oeste Rio. Rogério himself was the victim of an assassination attempt in 2001. In April 2010, another attack: Rogério’s 17-year-old son was killed in an attack in Barra. Instead of his father, it was the boy driving a car in which a bomb was planted. According to an investigation by the Federal Police, the offenders César Andrade de Lima Souto and Fernando Andrade de Lima Souto were involved in the crime.
