Ney Franco sees the well-deserved victory and Cruzeiro’s performance in the 2nd half as a “reference” for Serie B | cruise

– I wanted to score: we had a well deserved victory. Fair result and, within that justice, the merit was the team’s way of playing, looking for the goal all the time. We had moments in the game, especially at the end of the first half, when the team fell. In the second, with some adjustments, replacements, the team gained strength. We create offensive situations, to score goals, and we are very happy. In my case, my debut, and the most important thing is a victory for the Brazilian. Game that gives us reference. Team that still needs to have an improvement and, within this improvement, we have the reference mainly from the second half – said the coach.

Cruzeiro reached eight points in the competition and moved up to 13th place. He is two points from the relegation zone, but still eight points from the G-4. Ney Franco wants the team to always look for the goal, regardless of the rival, to achieve the access goal.

– We want to do this, but with protected defense, so as not to have a counterattack. Speaking of championship, classification, you cannot play in any other way than with a team that seeks the goal. That is the beginning. So I wanted to do the training on Thursday and put it into practice today. Although it is a game that is worth three points, I dared to put an identity that I want to put in Cruzeiro’s games both at home and abroad – said the coach.

– Regarding the training session, when the president called, and I saw that he had left on Friday, I said: President, I want to give details of the contract, I want to train on Wednesday Thursday to go to the Vitória game, at least, work on. We work reduced on Wednesday. That group that played against the CRB recovered. On Thursday I trained with a high score, without letting my opponent play. We practically put pressure on Vitória in the second half, it turned out that we could have scored more goals. Now, the team with a week to train, I hope to put my principles, high scores, especially at home, so as not to let the opposing team play.

– I spoke and went out to the field to do position work. The day before a lighter job is usually done, but I asked us to do 30, 35 minutes of positioning, with high delivery. The athletes proposed, it was a spectacular training, that’s where it was designed that we could do it. In the moments that we cause this, we cause Vitória’s error. We recovered the ball in the offensive field, that drew attention. The athletes understood the model well. Now that we have a week, we want to evolve in other aspects, to seek growth in the team.

Good and bad moments of the game

– We had two moments in the game that caused anxiety and problems, when the team began to lose itself on the field. Within my assessment, until the first 25 minutes we played a good game, then the team wanted to solve it on the fly. Our work is positional. In the second half, the team started on the opponent. When it was 1-0, with 10 minutes remaining, I saw anxiety, with the team ahead of the scoreboard, needing victory, we started to make room for Vitória, going back a bit. At first, wanting to guarantee victory, we ask not to give up the attack – he said.

– We feel that the players beat their memory mainly from the last match, when they scored the tie at the end. Like it or not, in the last 10 minutes, the team dropped the feature a bit, let Vitória grow. But it’s natural for the other team to grow urgently, with a young team on the field, five, six players in the 21-year-old age group. With this victory, an environment is created to work more calmly, so that, in the next game, we can have more tranquility to work, especially the possession of the ball – added Ney Franco.
