Social isolation from the new coronavirus pandemic caused a change in plans, but even so, the arrival of little Catarina was not surrounded by emotion and family affection. The couple Evelinne and Francisco, from Belo Horizonte, were greeted with a ribbon by family members after leaving the hospital.

Catarina was born on April 17, a normal birth, the same day that her father, Francisco Fonseca, turned 35. Last Sunday (19), the couple and their first daughter, Catarina, went to the apartment where they live, in Castelo, in the Pampulha region.

What was not the surprise of the mother, Evelinne Lopes Fonseca, 34, when she saw the family on the sidewalk, holding a banner for Catarina. Cousin Ana Laura, whom Evelinne cared for as a baby, was very touched at the moment. (Watch the videos)

“I had no idea! We had just entered the house. (…) All crying and screaming ‘Catarina’, “said the new mom.

Before arriving, the couple went through the houses of the two grandmothers to show the little girl. Closed windows and all with masks.

The plan was for Evelinne’s mother to spend time with the couple to help care for Catarina for the first few days. But the quarantine forced an adaptation.

Evelinne and Francisco are alone at home to care for the newborn, despite all the insecurity. And the balance of this first week of Catarina’s life is very positive.

“We take care of everything. We had advice on how to bathe in the hospital. When you pick up your child, you already know exactly how to pick it up, ”said the new mother.

Francisco is on vacation and therefore manages to share the chores with his wife.

But the family was not completely out of the routine. The grandmothers have been given food and they also collect, wash and return the clothes of the three. In addition, every day there are video calls with the whole family, so that everyone can follow the first days of Catarina.

“This affection helps a lot,” said Evelinne.

And as the banner says, Catarina is a symbol of hope for everyone.
