New head of justice is pastor and has dialogue with STF ministers | Politics

Appointed to the Ministry of Justice, André Mendonça is pastor of the Esperança Presbyterian Church in Brasilia, and holds a postgraduate degree in law from the University of Brasilia (UnB).

As the columnist for the G1 and the News Gerson Camarotti, the new minister, has a dialogue with ministers of the Supreme Federal Court (STF). André Luiz Mendonça participates in the sessions of the Supreme Court and expresses the positions of the Union in judicial cases.

Before assuming the position of Minister of Advocacy General of the Union (AGU), Mendonça served as the agency’s general corregidor between 2016 and 2018.

José Levi Mello do Amaral Júnior was appointed to the position of Mendonça at AGU.

The federal government announced in the early hours of Tuesday (28) lawyer André Luiz Mendonça as the new Minister of Justice. It was also confirmed that Alexandre Ramagem, current director of the Brazilian Intelligence Agency (Abin), will be the director general of the Federal Police (PF). Both are close friends of the Bolsonaro family.
