Copinha Champion in 2016 for Flamengo, Dener was one of the great promises of the club along with Lucas Paquetá, Felipe Vizeu and Léo Duarte, all companions of conquest. However, he lived with injuries that made him retire at age 23. And the early departure brought much criticism to the Rio club.

In a publication made on Instagram, the former defender released the verb against the medical department of the rojinegro club. According to him, knee surgery, performed in 2017, brought drama to his career. During recovery, Dener said he informed club doctors that he felt a slack in his knee. The professionals said it was normal.

Still, Dener continued with the recovery process. Five months after the surgery, he went through the transition. Yet the same problem bothered him: knee slack. During this work, he ended up having a slight sprain to his knee and felt a lot of pain. Again, the former defender made new tests, but the professionals of the Flamengo medical department repeated the usual speech.

With a swollen knee, Dener backed off his treatment and abandoned the transition period. Without the swelling, she transitioned back, but ended up suffering just as lax at the site. Lent by Figueirense, returned to the Santa Catarina club. Upon arriving in Florianópolis, Figueira’s medical department examined Dener’s knee and found that the athlete did not have a cruciate knee ligament. In an interview with the newspaper O Dia, Dener unburdened himself.

“At the beginning of 2018 they put me to train together with the group, even with this problem and inconvenience, and I reported it all the time. I was trained professionally. I played a friendly match in the professional, feeling a lot of pain. Feeling uncomfortable and relaxed But, like I told you, I did tests and they told me everything was fine. As I ran out of space and my contract was ending, Figueirense asked for my return, ”said Dener, explaining the situation.

“I arrived at Figueirense and they evaluated me. I went through this situation on my knees, observed this situation, found it strange and asked for an exam. And that’s when the surprise came. I was without the crusader, training for eight months with the crusader broken, as if I had not had surgery. And then, we took the tests carried out in 2017, we pointed out that the crossover was not very visible, where any orthopedic doctor who took to analyze would come, that he would need a new surgery. That was not transmitted to me at that time, “he added.

For this reason, Dener was returned to Flamengo by Figueirense. In Rio de Janeiro, they advised him to undergo a new knee surgery. Only that happened in 2018, during the World Cup break. According to Dener, the club was on hiatus, which meant that he spent 20 days without moving his knee, without any accompaniment from a club professional.

“So, I arrived at Figueirense, the doctors didn’t accept me, because they had a torn ligament and I was training anyway. I went back to Flamengo and told myself not to have another surgery, because they said that I had been training for a long time and that I would end up losing a lot of time. I asked to do it and the surgery ended up being done. I did the treatment at the club, but even so, I was showing lack of flexibility in my knee. I had this second surgery at the time of world Cup 2018. Then the club was on hiatus. They did the surgery and they left me for 15 to 20 days without moving my knee, without the physiotherapist accompanying me. At first they were going to offer me a physiotherapy clinic, but two days before the surgery they told me that I should rest at home. My knee stiffened. Very hard. This caused a very strong fibrosis. This was discovered a few months ago in Figueirense while I was training, ”said Dener.

“I already had a new surgery in Figueirense, I cleaned it, the fibrosis had already trapped the cartilage as well. It caused me a problem … my cruciate ligament, which had been operated, was already loose too. They had touched the postoraletal corner. It is very annoying for me to say that, but I cannot let it pass, because it ended my career ”, he concluded.

According to Dener, the first surgery was performed by a professional from Flamengo. The other ended up being carried out by a specialist from outside the club, but who frequently operated on athletes from the Rio team. He chose not to name names.

The newspaper O Dia, which published the article with Dener, sought out Flamengo, who preferred not to comment on it.
