Sometimes we even forget it, but as life goes on in the city, every day thousands of square kilometers are deforested and burned in the forest, and thousands of impacted lives, which will no longer be seen. This Saturday (5), Amazon Day alerts us since everything that happens in nature also impacts us. After all, we are all interconnected.
The devastation that grips the Amazon is not always easy to measure, but the figures are alarming: 580 trees are cut down per minute, approximately 835 thousand per day.
Last year, the inhabitants of the capital of São Paulo and other large cities had a small sample of this daily loss. In the middle of the day, the sky darkened the amount of smoke that came from burning in the Amazon. A sad way to remember that no one is isolated and everyone depends on nature to live.
As a form of protest and awareness, Natura Ekos will carry out on Saturday, Amazon Day, a series of interventions in the city of São Paulo to warn about this important connection between humanity and nature. The Ibirapuera Park will be taken by a simulation of fire, projecting a fire in the trees that overlook the lake. When the symbolic fire ends, the plants will “grow” again and the impact phrases will draw attention to the Amazon.

Simultaneously, large full-size trees will be projected on the facades of city buildings. The pictures will show how long it takes for a tree to reach adulthood.

The visual interventions seek to draw attention to the climate impact that threatens the planet with the devastation of the largest tropical forest in the world. The action of Natura Ekos has the collaboration of the visual artist Roberta Carvalho and the Africa agency.
The importance of conscious choices
And because we are interdependent and connected beings, our actions also impact the largest tropical forest in the world. Making conscious decisions is also acting in favor of the Amazon and the lives of all of us.
For 20 years, the Natura Ekos line of personal care products has contributed to the conservation of the Amazon. Created from a sustainable business model in partnership with the communities of the region, the line is one of the only ones in the world to achieve UEBT certification, an international seal that attests to the practice of ethical biotrade.
The work carried out by Natura Ekos has already positively impacted the lives of more than 5,000 families and has contributed to generating more than R $ 1.8 billion in business volume in the region, demonstrating its viability and relevance. All this, helping to conserve 1.8 million hectares, equivalent to 12 times the size of the city of São Paulo.
